Agia Paraskevi was rebuilt approximately ten years ago on the side of Mount Asitherotas and above the long sandy beach of Triopetra which takes its name (Three Stones) from the three large rocks at the end of the beach.
To the west lie the beaches of Ligres and Fotini where (as in Triopetra) Tavernas open in season. Further west is Preveli beach where the river forms a lake surrounded by palm trees in an area rich in fauna and flora overlooked by the famous Preveli Monastery.
To the east of Agia Paraskevi are the resorts of Agios Pavlos and Agia Galini and the famous beach at Matala whilst inland lies the pretty mountain village of Spili.
